Two Amateur Radio Operators receive Awards from the “Rare Ones” of New Orleans

Congratulations to Gary Harris – kc0wch and Evans Martin – kk4tyw for qualifying for awards issued by the “Rare Ones” of New Orleans.  Gary, kc0wch, from Missouri, qualified for a certificate by contacting 8 of the “Rare Ones” of New Orleans.  Again, congratulations Gary!  Also, the “Rare Ones” recognize Evans – kk4tyw, from Tennessee, for his efforts to have confirmed contacts with at least 4 “Rare Ones”.  Evan is awarded with a personalized window sticker for this automobile or ham shack.  Great job Evan!

8 Ham Radio Operators Receive Window Sticker Award from “Rare Ones”

The following 8 Ham Radio Operators will receive the “Rare Ones” of New Orleans personalized Window Sticker.  N5DHB, Big John and affectionate known as the “Rockin’ Bear”, is ecstatic of the response the Amateur Radio Community has embraced the “Rare Ones” of New Orleans.  Big John says, “My love for the City of New Orleans and the ability to share some of its unique history, traditions and culture with the Amateur Radio Community keeps me going!  Congratulations to the newest award recipients.

Introductory Window Sticker Award Ending April 30, 2017

The introductory Window Sticker Award will end on April 30th, 2017.  The Window Sticker Award has been popular with operators contacting the “Rare Ones”.   Dale Budenski, K5NQ – “the Noisy Quail” is thrilled of the number of hams qualifying for the award and the success of the resurrection of the “Rare Ones” Group in New Orleans.  Dale says, “Don’t be discourage.  The “Rare Ones” will resurrect the Window Sticker Awards Program from time-to-time in order to highlight special events in New Orleans”.  So stay tuned and keep the electrons flowing through the coax!

Breaking News – First “Rare Ones” Certificates Awarded

The “Rare Ones” of New Orleans proudly announce the first certificates awarded to three (3) amateur radio operators.  The recipients are as follows:

We thank all the certificate recipients for their effort and radio skills for making confirmed contacts with 8 of the “Rare Ones” of New Orleans.  We especially want to thank KF5PDF, Russel Hayward, for making all his contacts via mobile operation out of Carlsbad, New Mexico.  Great Job Russel!  We also commend KB8CR, Charlie Rubenstein, for his tremendous signal into New Orleans.  His new 40 Meter Delta Loop Antenna will give Charlie plenty of DX in the years to come.  Again, thanks Charlie for demonstrating great skill and persistence! The Latest Award Winners for the “Rare Ones” of New Orleans

Dale Budenski – K5NQ, the awards manager for the “Rare Ones” of New Orleans, recently certified the following recipients for their personalized window sticker award.  The award was earned by making confirmed contacts with four of the “Rare Ones” of New Orleans on any frequency and mode from 160 Meters to 6 Meters.
