Erika – k4nov recently earned her Associate Membership into the Rare Ones of New Orleans. She has been a steadfast supporter of the Rare Ones. In the spirt of New Orleans, Erika is always ready to try some of New Orleans finest recipes with her family! Erika lives in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Congratulations once again from all the “Rare Ones” of New Orleans!

K1VCT – Charlie was passing thru to New Orleans on his way back from Beau Bridge, Louisiana so he stopped by to visit the “Rare Ones”. A great time was had by all at Perino’s Boiling Pot Restaurant in Harvey, LA with great friends and food.

Steve Greffe is the First Confirmed Canadian Associate Member of the Rare Ones of New Orleans. The Rare Ones always appreciate Steve checking in with the Rare Ones. The “Rare Ones” feel a special kinship with our Canadian hams since we owe our Cajun Culture from the Acadian descendants from the Maritimes of Eastern Canada!

The Morning Call has ceased doing business in the metro New Orleans Area as of January 20th. The owners are looking to open at another location.  At this time, though, an institution that has been operated in the New Orleans metro area since the 1870 has shuttered.

Greg Speyrer – k5deu, recently became a “Rare One” of New Orleans Member. Greg is a New Orleans Resident and a Amateur Extra Class Operator. He has many interests in life from amateur radio to scuba diving. In addition, he serves as a volunteer diver with the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. Greg is also a member of the Jefferson Amateur Radio Club. We all welcome Greg aboard and hope you will meet him on the airways on 40 Meter or in the Shark Tank!
